18/08/12 Zuider Zee third in American St Leger

The American St Leger has been run for the first time and the race took place on the card of the Arlington Million. The Stakes race is worth $400.000 and John Gosden took his chance with ZUIDER ZEE (Sakhee-ZEPHYRINE) owned by HRH Princess Haya of Jordan. He finished 3rd on ground, that did not really suit him - However ZUIDER ZEE is the third Classic performer of his dam, as ZENATO by ACATENANGO became a multiple Classic winner in Scandinavia and his sister ZEGNA by SHIROCCO just won the Oaks in Norway. ZUIDER ZEE was bred by Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg at their SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN and was sold by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK as a foal at the Tattersalls December Sales.

This year his stunning brother ZILBER by HIGH CHAPARRAL will be consigned at the the BBAG Yearling Sales as Lot 162 by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK. His dam ZEPHYRINE is currently in foal to MONSUN.
