28/01/15 Zegna is the first to foal at Schlossgut Itlingen in 2015

ZEGNA (Shirocco-Zephyrine) foaled her first and the first foal of the season at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN at 1:20 am this morning. The filly is by NAYEF, a stallion Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg had particularly luck with, as they bred Gr.1 winner LADY MARIAN by him. Whether this filly will be able to follow the hoof prints of LADY MARIAN, only future can tell. However ZEGNA , the dam of the new born foal, won the Norsk Oaks in the colours of Mr Ascot and trained by Frederik Reuterskjold. So she became the second classic winner for her dam ZEPHYRINE in Scandinavia, as her brother ZENATO won the Svensk Derby, trained as well by Reuterskjold, but in the colours of Stall Lambada. Both were bred by Graf und Gräfin Stauffenberg and sold at the BBAG Yearling Sales. ZEGNA was bought back by her breeders after she finished her racing career to continue the line of AMAZER, as ZEPHYRINE had to be retired.
